How it works
Use your finger or a stylus, right on your phone or tablet. Answer one of our prompts, or write whatever you need to say to yourself.
Thirty, sixty or ninety days. Six months. A year. Or the morning of something that matters — a first day, an anniversary, a finish line.
It arrives as real mail, in your own handwriting, on paper worth keeping. Sealed since the day you wrote it. Nobody reads it but you.
Most of what we write to ourselves is a to-do list. This is the other kind: a note of encouragement, a promise, a reminder of what you hoped for before you knew how it would turn out.
Writing to a future self is a well-studied exercise. In a randomized trial of 738 people, a single future-self letter measurably reduced negative feelings and improved perspective (Chishima et al., 2021). We think it lands harder when it comes through the mail slot, in handwriting you would recognize anywhere.
For therapists, coaches and facilitators
Future-self letters, self-compassion letters and end-of-program reflections are exercises many practitioners already assign. Timely Yours turns them into a physical moment: the client writes in session or at home, chooses a date, and the letter arrives when it can do the most good.

Yes. What you write on the screen is what gets printed — every loop, slant and crossed-out word. No font pretending to be you.
Anywhere in the United States to start. Letters are printed and mailed from Seattle, timed so they land on or just before your chosen date.
Only you. Letters are stored encrypted, printed without being read, and sealed before they go in the mail. If you move, you can update the address any time before it ships.
Start with a prompt. “What do you hope is true by then?” “What do you want to remember about right now?” Or skip the prompts entirely and write whatever comes.
